August 2020: Fall Season Cancelled
We are saddened to share that in early August, we received news that our fall season had been cancelled. While we are disappointed to hear this news, we understand the health risks involved. NIRSA Region 1 is looking into the possibility of a shortened spring season, but a decision on that will not be made until later this fall. BCFC would still like to hold tryouts and practices in the fall, but those are both dependent on Boston College and BC Club Sports guidelines. We will provide further updates as soon as we hear a decision on tryouts and/or practices.
May 31, 2020: COVID Cross-country Connect half marathon & 10K
At the end of National Mental Health Awareness Month, BCFC teamed up with BC Women's Club Soccer to run the COVID Cross Country Connect Half Marathon and 10K. Proceeds from this event went to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. The event raised $1,137 total, breaking the goal of $1,000!
As stated on the race website: "This pandemic’s effects on the world’s population are as much psychological as they are physiological. For individuals with existing mental health conditions, the isolation, disruption of routine, and lack of control can cause newfound suffering and worsening of symptoms. For those without existing mental health conditions, they are no doubt feeling higher levels of anxiety and stress. This only underscores the need for us all to come together and support one another in the ways we can." BCFC and BCWCS understand the additional pressures that COVID-19 has placed and continues to place on mental health, and we were proud to raise money and spread awareness for the AFSP.
22 members of BCFC and BCWCS ran on May 31, with 6 of those coming from BCFC! Kevin Callanan '21, Alec Reiss '21, and Jack Linnehan '23 completed the half marathon. Nolan Constantine '21, Connor Cademartori '22, and Cooper Schmitz '22 completed the 10K.

February 9, 2020: Cycle for survival
For the second consecutive year, Boston College Men's Club Soccer joined forces with Boston College Women's Club Soccer to participate in Cycle for Survival! This event, organized by the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and hosted by Equinox Sports Club in Boston, encourages participants to raise money to help fund research to fight rare cancers. This culminates in a 4-hour, high-energy cycling event at Equinox, which was held on Sunday, February 9th this year.
BCFC and BCWCS set a fundraising goal of $2,000. With the help of family, friends, and followers, we were able to almost double that goal, raising a total of $3,849! We are incredibly proud of our organizations for being able to raise that much money for such a wonderful event. We thank Cycle for Survival, the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and Equinox Sports Clubs for putting together such a meaningful day.
